Recent studies have shown that the increase in global temprature may lead to more severe storms (Climate Change 2007: Synthesis Report, http://www.ipcc.ch/index.htm). The rise in greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4,O3) causes an increased absorbtion of the sun's long wave radiation leading to global warming (Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis, http://www.ipcc.ch/index.htm). Some of the effects include a global increase in temprature, a rise in sea level, extreme weather conditions, and in our case severe storms and tornadoes. Evaluating these pictures from this summer, and from your own experiences, comment on whether you believe global warming should be a concern for students and families living in the GTA?

Dear Teachers,
ReplyDeleteI am very glad there is a blog regarding this topic. I agree, there seems to be a change in weather patterns where I live, as the winters are not as cold as I or my parents remember, and summers are always accompanied by more rain than the last year.
I disagree with global warming, there is not enough evidence to support this theory. The weather has been the same since I was born, I haven't noticed any changes.
